The police have arrested three suspects on suspicion of large-scale bank help desk fraud. The police tracked down the men through information from research into phishing-as-a-service platform LabHost , which was taken offline by the authorities last month. Through the platform, criminals could choose from all kinds of phishing sites for a fee, for example for banks, delivery services and telecom companies.
The men now arrested are suspected of, among other things, telephone fraud. The men are said to have mainly called seniors, posing as bank or government employees. Victims were told that something was wrong with the bank account and money needed to be transferred to a 'safe deposit account'. In addition, the trio are said to have been guilty of WhatsApp fraud. Two of the three men are also suspected of money laundering
